2022: A New Joint Venture

Picture
On March 22nd, Dursley performed a joint concert with The Rednock Swing Band and it was brilliant to have a packed out Lister Hall. The students from Rednock performed to a very impressive standard, with particular highlights being a Beatles medley and a rousing encore of Skyfall (featuring soloist Kristine Mednoza). The two groups joined together to form a rare combo of swing band / male voice choir - the effort was worthwhile with well balanced performances of Ain't Misbehavin' and Can't Help Falling In Love. This was a wonderful event and Dursley look forward to more collaborations with Rednock in the future. Over £900 was donated to the Ukraine DEC fund.

2021: Return to Singing

In September Dursley performed their first concert in over 2 years. A joint concert with Churchdown Male Voice Choir provided an uplifting return to live singing, with the choirs combining for 5 joint items: When The Saints, Speed Your Journey, American Trilogy, Glyn Rosyn and Gwahoddiad. St Stephen's Church in Cheltenham was a super venue, with good acoustics for singing. Churchdown's accompanist James Quinn made excellent use of the pipe organ.

The annual Christmas concerts featured a lot of old favourites, alongside new arrangements from co-musical directors Matt and Barrie. Barrie's arrangement of the humorous poem 'The Twelve Days of Turkey' went down a treat. The choir were joined by local soprano Hannah Hughes, who charmed the audience with two delightful sets of varied music. She then joined the choir for a rousing encore of 'O Holy Night' - watch it here!

Lockdown 2020-21: DVD sales donated to Charity

Dursley Male Voice Choir have raised more than £1,000 for Stroud District Foodbank through sales of its lockdown concert DVD.

Communicating only via Whatsapp, the choir members individually recorded themselves using mobile phones before editing those recordings into a complete performance.

The money will help the foodbank to support the increasing number of families who are struggling during the pandemic.
