About Us — Our Charity Involvement and Objectives

The constitution of the choir requires it to be non-political and non-sectarian.
The object of the choir shall be the study and practice of choral music in order to foster public knowledge and appreciation of such music by public performance.
The choir is deeply indebted to Renishaw, the locally-based engineering company of international renown, for its generous financial support over many years that has helped the choir to achieve its objectives.
In developing the objectives the choir has fostered links with several charity organisations including:-

  • Headway of which the choir is a patron.
The choir is closely associated with the Bristol Branch and each Christmas contributes to its Festival of Nine Readings and Carols service traditionally held in Frenchay Parish Church.
  • Hope House Childrens' Hospice.
The choir’s latest CD has as its title ‘Another Day’. The title song of the same name was commissioned in support of the organisation.  The sale of sheet music contributes to the running of the hospice as does the sale of every CD copy the choir sells – a portion going to Hope House.
A wide range charitable organisations over many years have been supported through concerts performed by the choir including:-

  • R.N.L.I.
  • Hope for Tomorrow
  • Madame Curie Cancer Care
  • Gloucestershire Samaritans
  • Amnesty International
  • Cotswold Care Hospice
  • The Gloucester Regimental Museum
  • The Meningitis Trust
  • The Dragon Appeal
  • Wotton-U-E Community Sports Foundation
  • The Coracle Appeal in Padstow
  • Indian Ocean Tsunami Appeal
  • Dunblane Help Fund
  • Save the Children Fund
  • Water Aid
  • NICU Southmead Hospital
and many fund raising ventures for churches throughout the West Country.
